Structured Cabling for Intelligent Buildings is an overview course created by FSR on cabling design and installation best practices based on industry standards (TIA and BICSI) to educate architects on how the new cabling requirements affect building design. No prerequisite knowledge is required. To understand the basic advantages of a "Smart Building" and the infrastructure that is required to support it. Learn the main components of a structured cabling system, including backbone cabling, horizontal cabling, pathways and spaces, work areas, bonding and grounding, administration, and testing. Learn the principle and benefits of PoE (Power over Ethernet) and how it is implemented in the Smart Building. Learn about the cabling concerns when using this technology. Learn the role of the architect in the design of the Smart Building and the pre-planning process. Become familiar with the standards and codes for Smart Building cabling.
