FSR United Way 2018

Woodland Park, NJ (August 2018) — FSR, located in Woodland Park, New Jersey, takes its role as a local business as seriously as its role as an international manufacturer of audio video products. Not only does the company lend a hand, and financial support to industry charities such as the annual Drunk Unkles concert during InfoComm, FSR continually gives back to its home county in New Jersey by supporting the United Way of Passaic County’s “Backpack 4 Kids” program. Once again FSR, under the leadership of president and Passaic resident Jan Sandri, has joined with other local businesses and the United Way to fill backpacks with learning tools and classroom essentials, including notebooks, erasers, pens, pencils, and crayons, along with lunch boxes, so local students are equipped for the school year ahead.

“Backpacks 4 Kids” is part of a greater United Way initiative and a combined effort between area businesses to provide basic school supplies to children and to encourage an increase of academic success and higher graduation rates of children in Passaic County schools.

“So much of what we do at FSR is wrapped around giving students the very best tools to succeed,” said Jan Sandri, FSR’s president. “Our dedication to creativity and learning is reflected in our products, and that commitment is carried out on a local level by supporting our own county’s kids with much-needed supplies. We’re so happy we can help and give students a proper start for the school year.”

FSR manufactures audio and video switching, control products, connectivity boxes and collaboration systems from its headquarters in Woodland Park, NJ.

Company’s New Emulator Grabs SVC’s Best of Show Award

Las Vegas, NV (June xx, 2018) – FSR, a leading manufacturer of a wide variety of infrastructure products for the audio/video, Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), education, corporate, hospitality, government, and religious markets, is proud to announce that its newly introduced DR (Doctor) EDID, a device that allows the quick manipulation of information for simplified integration, has been named a Best of Show winner for InfoComm 2018 from Sound & Video Contractor, a Future plc brand.

Introduced to the AV market at the show, the DR-EDID Emulator allows the installer to easily and quickly modify information with a rotary switch to select between 16 pre-installed settings or copy the EDID from any device. This will simplify troubleshooting the technical challenges that often arise when performing video system integration, or permanently set the EDID of the system when left in place. It is designed to manipulate the EDID information provided to a connected HDMI source, or any device connected prior to the unit in the HDMI chain. The unique self-powered bidirectional device can be inserted onto either end of any HDMI cable and contains critical information about the capabilities of the connected display, including audio and video format support, HDMI feature support, etc.

“FSR is extremely proud that our DR-EDID has received such a prestigious award from one of the industry’s leading publications —Sound & Video Contractor. FSR always sets out to design a solution that will not only deliver outstanding performance but will also meet the needs of industry professionals. To be recognized by our community for these efforts while also receiving acknowledgement on our technology’s potential is truly a win for the whole company,” explains Jan Sandri, FSR president.

"This was a rich field of submitted nominations, reflecting the breadth of engineering, R&D, and UX talent we have in this industry," says SVC editor Cynthia Wisehart. "Congratulations to the winning teams. I look forward to seeing their products at work across our markets."

Best of Show winners were submitted for consideration by the product manufacturers and winners were selected by a panel of anonymous InfoComm members (CTS-certified) on-site judges at InfoComm 2018.  On Day 1 and Day 2, judges evaluated each entered product against multiple criteria including innovation; performance against category standard; richness/relevance of feature set; ease of installation/maintenance; network friendliness; and value/ROI. Products with the highest total points were designated as winners.

FSR Offers Two Continuing Education Courses Geared Toward Interior Designers

Courses teach how to blend communication and information technology into design elements for heightened presenter and user experience

Woodland Park, NJ (May xx, 2018) – — FSR, a leading manufacturer of a wide variety of infrastructure solution products for the audio/video, Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), education, hospitality, and government markets, is offering two new continuing education courses geared toward the interior design community. Both courses are approved by the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC); and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and Lourdes Collins, FSR Director, Furniture and Design Channel, has been certified to teach both.

According to Collins the courses are available to all, but specifically target Design Firms whose customers need to integrate information technology, audio / visual equipment and control devices into design elements for shared, heightened and convenient communications. “Today’s designers face a dual challenge,” explains Collins, “they not only have to provide high-performance high-design environments, but one that allows easy and reliable access to functional technology as well. These courses will expand their knowledge of collaboration spaces and connectivity options, and discuss alternative practices when designing and arranging furniture for successful boardrooms, hospitality venues, schools, or similar projects.”

Course descriptions

Designing Successful Technology - Rich Collaboration Spaces

This course introduces various types of collaborative environments and the challenges associated with the design of these rooms. It will focus on stake-holder input, design, layout and implementation and discuss how furniture choice and placement, technology integration, connectivity and equipment storage can impact the user’s experience and productivity.  Real-life examples of spaces and solutions will be offered throughout the presentation.

AV & IT Connectivity in Ceilings, Walls, Floors and Tables

This course will take the attendee on a journey from the traditional presentation spaces of yesterday, through the technology revolution driving the design of today and tomorrow’s Auditoriums, Classrooms, and Conference Rooms. Along the way the instructor will discuss how changes in AV & IT connectivity can impact– and improve - the experience for both audience and presenter.

“We are extremely pleased to continue to bring value and knowledge to the design community via these two new courses,” says Jan Sandri, FSR president. “Education improves competence and skill and is a powerful tool to strengthen any individual and elevate an entire profession. We are proud that Lourdes has been certified to teach these courses and are already scheduling classes.”

Company’s PWB-FR-450 is Only Fire-Rated Wall Box for Infrastructure industry

Woodland Park, NJ  (December 8, 2017) – FSR, a prominent manufacturer of products for all segments of the ProAV industry, including: education, hospitality, government, corporate and religious markets, is proud to announce that it has received a patent on its PWB-FR-450 Fire-Rated Wall Box, the latest offering in its popular PWB series. The development underscores the Company’s pioneering spirit and leadership role by acknowledging the infrastructure industry’s only fire-rated wall box with a patent.

The large capacity PWB-FR-450 incorporates fire-resistant intumescent material within the door and its mounting frame for up to 60 minutes of protection.  The unique box is completely code-compliant and eliminates the need for constructing double walls. When closed, the PWB-FR-450’s cover is flush to the wall enabling displays to be mounted as close as possible, but also allowing ample room for all other in-wall connections. The cover is ventilated top and bottom to provide convection cooling and there is an exit slot to pass cables from the interior of the box to the display.

The PWB-FR-450 can accommodate Crestron’s DM-RMC-4K-SCALAR-C receiver/room controller or 3 AC outlets and 4 single gang compartments to meet the needs of nearly any installation.

“FSR is very proud to receive this patent on our PWB-FR-450 Fire-Rated Wall Box,” says Jan Sandri, president of FSR. “Not only is it prestigious to receive a patent, but it tells the industry that we are the first to bring this kind of technology to market. While other wall boxes certainly exist, FSR is the only company to offer a fire-rated wall box that is also designed for applications where the installer needs to mount larger interfaces or equipment behind a display or in any other custom application.

Woodland Park, NJ (October 25, 2017) –FSR, a leading manufacturer of a wide variety of products for the Pro AV and Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) markets, got crafty for The New England Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and supplied models at its 19th annual unconventional fashion show with neck jewelry made from floor box handles.

Two dozen of the region’s best interior design firms and schools team up with industry manufacturers to battle it out on the runway at the annual event that drew a sold out crowd of over 1,700 people at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on October 12th. Designers from each team create and don fashions crafted exclusively from the tools of their trade and compete for cheers, awards and bragging rights.

New York, NY (September 7, 2017) – The verdict is in — the John Jay College of Criminal Justice has selected five FSR HuddleVU Collaboration Systems, for its small-group study rooms located in the Lloyd Sealy Library of

FSR HuddleVU at John Jay group study screen e1504876959926

Haaren Hall. The systems allow multiple users to share and view their laptops, tablets, and smart phone screens on a main display, underscoring the school’s efforts to encourage student collaboration, group study and shared projects.  FSR, a leading manufacturer of a wide variety of infrastructure solution products for the audio/video, Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), education, hospitality, and government markets, released project details from Company headquarters in Woodland Park, NJ.

Lloyd Sealy Library, which holds more than 500,000 books, periodicals, films, microfilms, and digital collections, offered students all the resources necessary for group study and shared projects, except the technology that would result in greater collaboration and increased use of the study-group rooms. Following an exploration and evaluation process of affordable options that would create the ideal environment for people to view and share ideas, the school made the decision to install FSR HuddleVU Collaboration systems.

According to Geng H. Lin, Library Systems Manager, “Everything was built-in so we didn’t have to reconfigure the current space, which was a concern. We decided to try two immediately.” FSR's HuddleVU systems include all the necessary video switching equipment, control hardware, display power control and color-coded captive HDMI cables for a simple, yet effective way to install quickly and operate.

Once the FSR HuddleVU systems were installed in two rooms in the upper library, the College focused on stimulating interest via signage in the library, promotion on the library website and a notification to students via internal electronic communications. The rooms were quickly in such high demand that the College added HuddleVUs in the Library’s lower three rooms as well. Each installation was accomplished in one day and came in under budget.

According to the College, the rooms “just work” for the students. The HuddleVU’s are so intuitive and reliable that the students have been able to operate with minimal instruction, and without asking for outside assistance. John Jay College now has a user-friendly, self-contained system designed for group study. Students are able to use the HuddleVU systems immediately following a few simple instructions, and are equally at ease using it for group projects, studying or displaying their work on the screen. The school anticipates a lot of collaboration amongst students when they have group projects, and looks forward to adding systems as space becomes available. According to Lin, “Students are extremely happy with the equipment — they are really enjoying it. It has been a great experience overall.”
